At the AI and Algorithms Group we develop cutting edge algorithms for a wide range of systems, from autonomous vehicles to drones and more. We tackle problems in the areas of 3D-perception, computer-vision and decision making, using Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning methods.

We are looking for an experienced algorithm developer to conduct research and development of computer vision algorithms for various projects such as autonomous ground and aerial vehicles, active defense of armored vehicles and situational awareness.

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University is seeking highly motivated deep-learning research scientist to join our team at Payabvash Lab. The research focus is on application of deep-learning for automated assessment of brain CT and MRI scans in patients with stroke and brain injury. Our goal is to devise novel tools for diagnosis, outcome prediction, and risk-stratification of patients with cerebrovascular diseases, based on wealth of information extracted from medical images and clinical records.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Department of Neurology at Yale. We are working on a large cohort of multi-institutional multi-national datasets to address some of the most pressing needs in patients who are susceptible to brain injury. Research scientists are expected to develop and deploy deep neural networks for medical image analysis, utilizing the available datasets. The research scientists will also oversee and lead graduate students and RAs working in the lab.

Preferred qualifications include:
• MS/PhD in CS, ECE, BME, Math, or related fields
• Experience with application of Deep Learning for image analysis – preferably medical images

  • Experience managing both technical and non-technical stakeholders and able to resolve complex business and technical issues. 
  • We look for people who have broad Machine Learning experience across a variety of applications both traditional and Deep Learning, but a deeper expertise in either Computer Vision, NLP, Forecasting or Recommenders. 
  • Python skills, including the scientific Python stack, Machine Learning frameworks, and at least one major programming language such as C#.
