Autonomy & Robotics Team Lead
Our mission is twofold:
On the civilian side, we build labeled 3D information layers from all types of sensors—powering smart cities, drones, autonomous vehicles, infrastructure monitoring, public safety, and far beyond.
On the defense side, we bring true real-time intelligence to the edge—anywhere, for any sensor, at any point on the map—enabling fast, informed, and decisive action in the field.
At Algolight, we combine everything that’s best in the civilian world—advanced technologies, open-minded thinking, freedom to innovate, and personal growth—with a bold vision: to become the company that enables AI to truly understand the world.
At the same time, we embrace the best of the defense world—missions with real meaning, a genuine sense of purpose, and the development of systems that save lives.
This is a rare combination of cutting-edge technology + deep impact + global vision + an innovative environment that pushes you to the highest professional levels.
We’re looking for an Autonomy & Robotics Team Lead to shape the autonomy stack, lead the team, and drive breakthrough capabilities into deployed systems.
🛠️ What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading autonomy & robotics engineering and research: mentoring, technical direction, and end-to-end delivery.
- Building autonomy pipelines that combine:
- Classical algorithms: state estimation, sensor fusion, SLAM/odometry, planning, optimization, control.
- Learning-based models: foundation models, representation learning, policy learning (where appropriate), and hybrid approaches.
- Autonomy algorithms across domains:
- State estimation (Kalman/UKF/Particle, smoothing, factor graphs)
- Planning (search-based, sampling-based, optimization-based)
- Control (PID/LQR/MPC, robust control intuition)
- Uncertainty & safety (risk-aware decision making, confidence/uncertainty propagation)
- Multi-sensor and multi-working-point robustness: time sync issues, sensor dropouts, drift, environmental shifts.
- Defining benchmarks and “what good looks like” in autonomy: stability, safety, performance envelopes, and failure analysis.
- Working tightly with perception, embedded, and physical sensing teams to build a coherent autonomy system—not isolated components.
✅ Requirements
- 5+ years in autonomy/robotics algorithms or systems (industry, defense, or high-level research).
- Deep understanding of classical autonomy (estimation + planning + control) and how to make it robust.
- Strong Python-based algorithmic development; ability to lead complex R&D in real systems.
- Proven leadership: team lead / tech lead / mentoring with execution responsibility.
⭐ Strong Advantages
- ROS2-based autonomy stacks and real-time field deployment.
- Experience with factor-graph frameworks (GTSAM/Ceres-style thinking), optimization, and mapping pipelines.
- Experience with multi-modal foundation models for robotics or embodied AI.
🚀 What Awaits You
- Real autonomy + robotics challenges with real impact.
- Freedom to design architecture, benchmarks, and strategy.
- Access to exceptional teams, data, sensors, and state-level resources.
💰 Excellent compensation.
