Computer Vision Lead

At Algolight, we live and breathe the future of artificial intelligence and the physical world.

Our mission it two-folder:

On the civilian side, we build labeled 3D information layers from all types of sensors—for smart cities, drones, autonomous vehicles, infrastructure, public safety, and far beyond.
On the defense side, we bring true real-time intelligence to the edge—anywhere, for any sensor, at any point on the map—enabling smart, real-time decisions in the field.

Border Team Mission

At Algolight, we are building the next generation of autonomous, multi-sensor AI systems designed to operate in real, operational environments — not just in theory. Our work spans from raw sensor data to high-confidence triage, reasoning, and autonomous decision-making, enabling scalable, robust, and intelligent systems that reduce cognitive load on operators and help drive safer, more effective national operations.

As part of a national effort to modernize border operations, you will be a core technical force — helping define, design, implement, and scale AI-driven architectures that tie together data, models, agents, and operational systems.

🚀 What You’ll Be Responsible For

Vision Perception Architecture

  • Own the design of the end-to-end computer vision pipeline:
from raw video ingestion to detections, tracks, and higher-level scene understanding.
  • Define perception interfaces consumed by fusion, triage, and autonomy systems.
  • Make architectural trade-offs under constraints of latency, reliability, and deployment environment.

Detection, Tracking & Temporal Modeling

  • Lead and Guide development of:
    • Object detection (humans, vehicles, animals, objects of interest)
    • Multi-object tracking and ID stability
    • Temporal reasoning and motion consistency
  • Address real-world issues: occlusions, scale changes, low contrast, night/day transitions, weather.

Multi-Modal Vision

  • Design and Guide perception across:
    • VIS / NIR / SWIR / MWIR / LWIR cameras
    • Low-light and thermal sensors
    • Event-based cameras (when applicable)
  • Handle cross-modal alignment, calibration, and confidence fusion.

Scene Understanding & Semantic Reasoning

  • Guide The Development of higher-level representations:
    • Scene descriptors
    • Activity patterns
    • Anomaly and behavior detection
  • Support downstream components such as: scene-to-text, event scoring, and decision engines.

Data, Evaluation & Robustness

  • Define dataset strategy, labeling requirements, and QA processes.
  • Own evaluation metrics beyond mAP:
false alarms, missed detections, temporal consistency, operational relevance.
  • Drive robustness across environments, seasons, and sensor configurations.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead and mentor computer vision engineers and researchers.
  • Collaborate closely with radar, autonomy, data, and systems teams.
  • Guide the transition from research prototypes to production-ready systems.

🎯 What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Strong background in computer vision or visual perception.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience developing vision algorithms for real systems.
  • Experience working with real sensor data, not only curated benchmarks.

Technical Strengths

  • Modern deep learning for vision (CNNs, Transformers, hybrid models).
  • Classical vision and geometry (projection models, calibration, motion).
  • Multi-camera and multi-modal perception.
  • Model evaluation, error analysis, and failure handling.
  • Deployment-aware development (latency, memory, throughput).

⭐ Strong Advantages

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems.
    Exposure to multi-sensor fusion pipelines.
  • Experience with edge deployment (Jetson, TensorRT, real-time inference).
  • Background combining classical CV with learning-based methods.
  • Prior technical leadership or team-lead experience.

🌟 What Awaits You at Algolight

  • Ownership of national-scale visual perception systems.
  • Real data, real sensors, real operational constraints.
  • Freedom to design perception the right way — not just fast demos.
  • Close collaboration with radar, autonomy, data, and AI architecture teams.
  • A culture that values depth, rigor, and long-term correctness.
