Principal AI Systems Architect

On the civilian side, we build labeled 3D information layers from all types of sensors—for smart cities, drones, autonomous vehicles, infrastructure, public safety, and far beyond.
On the defense side, we bring true real-time intelligence to the edge—anywhere, for any sensor, at any point on the map—enabling smart, real-time decisions in the field.

Border Autonomy:

At Algolight, we are building the next generation of autonomous, multi-sensor AI systems designed to operate in real, operational environments — not just in theory. Our work spans from raw sensor data to high-confidence triage, reasoning, and autonomous decision-making, enabling scalable, robust, and intelligent systems that reduce cognitive load on operators and help drive safer, more effective national operations.

As part of a national effort to modernize border operations, you will be a core technical force — helping define, design, implement, and scale AI-driven architectures that tie together data, models, agents, and operational systems.

🚀 What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of AI-driven border systems:
    from sensor ingestion through reasoning, decision-making, and operational interfaces.
  • Translate operational, security, and latency requirements into scalable, resilient system designs.
    Define architectural boundaries, interfaces, and long-term technical direction.

Agentic & LLM-Driven Architectures

  • Design multi-agent AI systems coordinating perception, context, reasoning, and action.
  • Define how LLMs are embedded into operational workflows (scene understanding, context aggregation, decision support).
  • Own agent-to-agent contracts, context models, and orchestration strategies.

Platform & Data Architecture Oversight

  • Define the structure of data platforms supporting real-time inference and offline learning.
  • Set standards for schemas, metadata, observability, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Guide architectural decisions around data lakes, vector databases, and hybrid storage.

Cross-System & Legacy Integration

  • Lead integration of AI capabilities into existing C2 and legacy systems.
  • Design for phased autonomy: shadow mode → assisted → supervised → autonomous operation.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as the architectural authority across AI, data, and system teams.
  • Mentor senior engineers and guide technical trade-offs.
  • Work directly with product, research, and operational stakeholders.

🎯 What We Are Looking For

Required Experience

  • 5+ years in software, systems (preference to AI or software architecture role)
  • Proven experience designing large-scale, distributed AI systems end-to-end.
  • Strong background integrating AI into production, operational systems.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, async architectures, and real-time constraints.

Technical Strengths

  • AI system architecture (not just models).
  • Agentic systems and LLM integration patterns.
  • Data platform design at scale.
  • API-driven, service-oriented architectures.

  • Background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomy.
  • Experience with multi-sensor fusion at system level.
  • Exposure to regulated / classified / mission-critical environments.
  • Comfortable making architectural decisions under uncertainty.
