Senior Data Scientist
PinkStar is an early-stage startup developing advanced AI technologies for ultra-early breast cancer detection using MRI. Our mission is to uncover meaningful imaging biomarkers, identify subtle tissue changes before lesion formation, and translate these insights into clinical workflows.
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with strong expertise in computer vision and deep learning to take ownership of core model development. This role involves close collaboration with the scientific and clinical team to ensure seamless integration with radiology practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, refine and validate deep-learning models for breast MRI, including segmentation, detection, classification and risk prediction.
- Design and optimize MRI preprocessing pipelines (registration, normalization, harmonization, QC).
- Build and scale robust data pipelines to thousands of MRI studies; manage curation, labeling flows, and dataset versioning.
- Conduct extensive experimentation using 2D/3D CNNs, transformers, diffusion models and generative techniques.
- Integrate feedback from radiologists and clinical partners to drive model improvements.
- Develop prototype tools and support clinical testing and deployment.
- Contribute to strategic planning and help shape the technological roadmap as the company grows.
Required qualifications:
- MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing deep-learning models for medical imaging
- Strong expertise in modern deep learning architectures using imaging and tabular data, and methods for integrating multimodal inputs.
- Solid understanding of image processing, medical data workflows, and model evaluation methodologies.
- Ability to work independently, lead multiple projects, and operate effectively in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a multidisciplinary team.
Additional technical strengths:
- Experience with multi-site datasets, harmonization and model generalization challenges.
- Familiarity with federated learning, privacy-preserving training methods, or clinical trial workflows.
- Track record of publications in medical imaging, AI or related scientific venues.
Why join us:
A mission-driven opportunity to shape the company\'s foundational technology from its earliest stages, working at the intersection of AI, imaging science, and women\'s health. This role provides significant scientific ownership and strong collaboration with clinical experts. Most importantly, it offers the chance to meaningfully change how breast cancer is detected, shifting the paradigm toward earlier, smarter, and more personalized diagnosis.
