Vimeo is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Machine Learning Research team.

The Machine Learning Research team at Vimeo is focused on unlocking opportunities for ML to make an impact, both to existing teams and products, as well as novel opportunities. We work with a wide selection of algorithms, to understand Users and Videos, based on various signals such as text, video and analytics.

In this role, Data Engineer will take an active role in bridging between the existing data on the Vimeo platform and its utilization by the Machine learning team towards applications.

What you’ll do:

  • Gain deep knowledge on all Vimeo data sources and provide automatic aggregations and transformations for specific usages for ML projects.
  • Conduct datasets for machine learning applications, while implementing data integrity and validation measures.
  • Implement automatic processes to digest data and iterate with machine learning pipelines.
  • Be part of a cross functional team, and be the Data expert in the team exploring and evaluating the best ways data should be utilized and treated within the team
  • Partner with Data Engineering teams to bring the state of the art in the field to the team.

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • 3+ years of experience in scalable data architecture, fault-tolerant ETL, and monitoring of data quality in the cloud.
  • Working knowledge of design patterns and coding best practices
  • Experience with and understanding of data modeling concepts, techniques and best practices
  • Experience with Airflow, Celery, or other Python-based task processing systems
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Proficiency in Python / PySpark
  • Experience with Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, CitusDB, or other distributed columnar-store databases
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and develop innovative NLP applications as well as continually improve existing NLP applications

  • Modifying and optimizing Pragma's current NLP models

  • Prototype, build, and deploy new models to serve as the core of new product features

  • Staying up to date with the latest research trends that could improve Pragma's product

Requirements:

  • Masters degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a Machine Learning related degree; or equivalent work experience in the field

  • 3+ years NLP applied research experience, preferably experience applying NLP research to real-world problems in the industry

  • 2+ years of experience building production NLP models, and deploying them to solve inference challenges at scale

General Motors Israel R&D Labs is an applied research center focusing on creating and evaluating innovative concepts for future vehicles. Researchers at this center conduct independent research as well as collaborative projects with colleagues at GM, with academic and industrial partners, in Israel and abroad.

The Computer Vision and Perception group is performing research and concept development for automotive-relevant perception tasks. The main research goal is to advance perception capabilities for Autonomous Driving using multi-sensor (e.g. Cameras, Lidars and Radars) data as input. The research focus is at advancing state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms in all aspects including accuracy, robustness, data dependency, computational requirements and explainability for a variety of relevant perception tasks.

About the role:

A senior researcher in the group will work closely with engineering colleagues to identify future challenges and possible solutions. He is expected to develop a wide and long-term perspective of his research field and propose a principled research agenda. He can work on either applied research focused on a specific application or more fundamental research with potential outcomes for a variety of tasks. He will also continue being a contributor to the wider research community by collaborating with academic researchers and publishing papers.
